2020 Sometimes it’s the little jobs……

During this trip my wife had to work for a couple of weeks and could do this remotely with our now rapid 3 mbps broadband connection!! The downside of this was that at times I had to be quiet in the house and avoid using any machinery. While waiting to get the circular saw going again I decided to work on making the shelf on our stairs look presentable. Unfortunately I didn’t take a photo of the ‘before’, let me just say that the shelf consisted of expose chipboard and varied in depth as the edge of it followed a curved oak beam. I had thought how to fix this and had considered cutting the oak beam straight but the best option was to make the narrower part wider by adding wedges and then putting a new front on the beam (with space for LED lights to be fitted in the future).

This job had been put off as I thought it would be fiddly, but like many jobs the reality was different. This time it was a quick and easy job! Then all I had to do as to use two pieces of oak given to me by my cousin to create a suitable sized shelf and we were done! Dutch neighbour Ben cut and then added slots for biscuit joints and we then glued the shelf. Very happy with the result.

So another successful conference call…… 🙂
