2020 – Tiling around the pool

This is a mammoth task that was started last year with the area under the pergola being tiled and the start of the tiles to the pool.

This summer we wanted to finish the tiling around the roman steps – basically the difficult curved part of the pool! Dutch neighbour Ben to the rescue again as he showed me how to cut a curve in the tiles (I say tiles but they are really 30mm  thick paving slabs) which is not an easy task and by the end of it I was nearly profficent – some of them are better than others!

We did the first tiling in 2019 – the main area, with 2 3×3 blank areas to have a different pattern added to break up the large area, and then around the pool edge.

This is a large area and you have to plan for drainage to the tiles slope away from the pool and also to the edge where water can drain – a nightmare!

Then this year we got under way with the area up to the pool…..

Still a long way to go but its a good start!
