Dordogne Retreat - a farmhouse tale

We came with one painting project in the plan - to paint the back of the house. We had measured the area and then calculated the paint needed, and then added a bit. Things started off well...

But then it became clear we were going to run out of paint, which we did with the job only half done!

Luckily our next set of visitors kindly agreed to bring over 4 more 5 litre cans of paint, we have one can left and a bit more still to do, but it's looking good:

While sitting under the vine one evening another painting project was created - to paint the wood around the front doors. We decided on a green and asked Peter and Felicity to bring some paint with them. Not knowing quite which colour they bought four different shades and went back with three! It is a big improvement over the funny 'pink' that was there before:

While doing this we noticed the lamp above the door was a little worse of wear so during a visit to Brico Depot a new one was purchsed and installed:

With the new fitting we have also been able to fit a low energy bulb. We also found some dates inscribed on the beam above the door but have not yet been able to decipher them all!
